How much do you charge?
Each cake is unique and there are so many variables, including ingredients used, complexity of the design, and the time involved to create it. So it's difficult to have a set price. In an effort to be more clear, we have set out to provide a general price outline on this web site. If you communicate what your expectations are as far as price and design complexity, then we in turn are able to give you what you want, at a price that's in your budget. Instead of pricing high to cover all variables, we believe in "menu pricing" -- in other words, you only pay for what you want, not what you don't need or expect.
Please see the product pages for more information about prices for all of our products.
Why do your cakes and cookies cost more than I can get at grocery stores, big box discount stores, or warehouse stores? Why should I order from you instead?
For some people, cakes and cookies from these type of stores fit their expectations and budget ... and that's okay. Our cakes are intended for people who are looking for custom-designed and homemade baked goods that are created just for them, made with top quality and fresh ingredients. One bite, and you'll notice the difference. Also, our creations are more than just something to be eaten -- we like to think of them as "cake art." A lot of time, thought and care goes into every item that we send out the door. And if it's not done right, it gets done over!
As an example, to complete just the decorating on a dozen cookies can take over an hour - and that doesn't include making the dough, rolling the dough, cutting the shapes, preparing the icing, coloring the icing or cleaning up the mess that we make afterwards. Making sugar cookies is very time consuming.
How do I place an order?
Either an e-mail or a phone call works just fine. Our contact information is on the Home page.
If you wish to correspond via e-mail, send us the information about what you're wanting, and we'll then contact you to discuss your order in more detail. If you don't hear from us within 24 hours, please call in case your e-mail is lost in cyberspace!
For any order, feel free to send or bring us any photographs, color swatches, and ideas you have. We'll also share ideas and suggestions, and together we'll come up with a design that fits your occasion and budget. If your idea is more than our expertise can handle, we will let you know that too -- we want you to be happy with the end product ... not promise you something we can't deliver.
Weddings: An in-person consultation is recommended for weddings or large orders, but we will gladly work with you via phone or e-mail if you're planning from a distance and/or don't feel you need to meet in person. See the Wedding page for sampling information and other policies.
How far in advance should I place an order?
It's important to us that we give your order the individual care and attention it deserves. Decorated cakes with a basic design or basic cupcake flavors, at least a week's notice is appreciated. Cut-out cookies need at least 1 week notice so we can make the dough ahead of time and let "set" in frig. Of course, for all orders, the more notice, the better so we can prepare and plan ahead!
For large events such as weddings, orders that are more complex, and certain decoration requests, we need at least 1 month notice to allow for extra time to plan for ingredients as well as purchase/order any specific decorations or supplies that are needed.
There are times we may be able to accommodate orders with less notice, depending on our schedule and whether or not we have other bookings -- so just ask!. In general, most of our orders are for weekend events. As our business continues to grow, it is now becoming more common that we have to limit the number of orders we can accept for certain weekends, especially when we have a wedding or large events booked. Therefore, you should place your order as much in advance as possible. Please contact us to see if your date is still available.
Can you ship my order?
We are no longer shipping decorated cookies. We can't ensure that they will pack and travel and remain as beautiful as when they went in the box, so we have decided to discontinue this service.
Cupcakes and cakes are simply impossible to ship without freezing, and we aren't set up to guarantee frozen delivery at this time. Sorry!
